I've been playing with this Google Chrome App called Matilda (there's one for iOS users too). It's pretty and kind of like a story photobook blog sort of thing.

What do you guys think of ZE:A? I actually like their songs - Watch Out and Level Up! They're really sweet and nice to everyone and I'm sure they'll make it big somehow! :) Well, the soundsystem kind of messed up during their performance and they just had to stop it because it wasn't worth performing with a busted system. The boys showed their professionalism and I guess you could say they were very sweet to their fans.

Hmmmm, with Junyeong's face stuck in my head, I might buy their albums in Singapore and become a fan O__O

There's part 2, I promise but since I'm dead tired...d'aww I don't know yet, my head might be floating in Junyeong-land or something

We took Henry (my new dog) to Boni High last Sunday for some "meeting new friends" session. Basically being the almost only 5 month old puppy in the place...people were gushing up on him and being the pa-star, Henry was...he actually enjoyed being toyed by the little kids and adults.

Henry's 5 months officially! He's actually grown a lot since we first got him home. He's fatter now - that's one. He's still pretty much a baby so he's very curious about almost anything but it's a good thing he's friendly. I used to have this impression on shitzu's that they're mostly snobbish dogs - guess Henry proved that wrong.

Makeover Weekend!

I seemed to have a lot of makeover sessions this weekend but it was nonetheless very enjoyable. It was another time to enjoy one of the things I love about Korea - makeup! Channeling my inner Victoria Song (I'm very f(x) biased lately), I decided to go back to full bangs and finally get my hair straightened out. I feel very refreshed now actually and well, a lot more younger looking (ha! ano daw!)

Tony Moly Philippines had an event inside their branches over the weekend where you can get a free makeover and freebies for every purchase of certain amounts from their stores! Being the skin tonic addict that was my boyfriend, he was convinced to buy his skin care stuff there while I just indulged in makeup - the usual.

I was asked if I wanted to do the makeover which was kind of embarassing at first but for the heck of it, the idea of a Korean makeup artist made me just want to do it. The one who did my make up is Eunmi, she's really....fast. I was trying to get a gist of how she did my eye make up but fail, she was just too fast and awesome!

Awesome gradiation! Well, I had makeup on already when we got there! All Eunmi did was to enhance it more with some gliterry nude Tony Moly eyeshadow colors, straighten out that gel-liner and I found out the secret of most Korean idols' when it comes to their eye makeup - liquid glitter liner. That's the one you put on your waterline and blend it with your gel liner or something. My eyes looked so shimmery!

Ta-dah! here's the final look. The fun part is she placed a hint of purple eyeshadow under my eyes. Nice tip!

Want more vanity. Haha!

I enjoyed this weekend all too much because I finally gave a little more time for myself which was very much needed. I still do wish my hair grows a little faster, I don't like not having volume.

Super Show 3D Premiere

Last night was purely a blast! Especially for a Super Junior fan like me, getting to be able to watch Super Show 3 in 3D on its first screening made me jittery excited and all sorts of adjectives you can add here. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me as I had to go to a lot of places before I ended up in Gateway. Anyway, here goes nothing!

I was invited by my lovely friends from Super Junior United Philippines to catch the premiere with them. I arrived a bit late since I had to come from somewhere then Ortigas and traffic was insane around the Ortigas area yesterday.

The premiere was held at the Gateway Cineplex 5 and started around 8PM. Of course, I was kind of expecting the place to be packed by press people and I was like *GASP*, what. err. Fangirls. Nothing wrong with that but I guess you can't have a fun premiere screening without fangirls screaming everywhere. The press would just be....dead silence.

Today's actually the first screening out to the public at the Gateway Cineplex and I was supposed to go however, I had to prioritize some family things. If you're a Super Junior fan, you should not miss this spectacular event, especially for someone like me who wasn't able to attend SS3 at all - this was one treat for me. Although, it's not as long as the concert - it's probably...around a movie-long.

Only Better

Probably the only excuse I can make for writing less again was the fact I felt so emotionally distressed the past few days, no, weeks and probably even months. My college friends were witnesses of how much I changed the past few months. It grew to a conclusion, I wasn't happy lying to myself to do things I think and just say I want to do. I also wasn't happy with just forcing myself, it was like being forced to eat something I didn't like or was allergic to.

I am turning 21 soon, dad's right when he said I've already held myself for almost half of my life, I've already completed my duties to them after I received my diploma lat July so it was finally time to do the things I wanted to do. Dino has been telling me this for so long - it was really time to think about what I wanted, what I desired and not because I needed to think about mom and dad - well it comes with that too - I still feel I need to be responsible for them. Dad's "advice" earlier really struck me and it was really surprising to hear it coming from him who've held me back from any of my other "endeavors". "Go ahead, have fun, go back to theater, go sing and dance again, go have fun with your friends. You're young, you're not going to do this things when you're older".

I remember a friend telling me "Aya, why are you rushing to things, you've just graduated, you should enjoy first" and you know what, it took me months to realize that yes, I was rushing too much into things. The dilemma of branding myself with a job title is still there. I still don't know who and what I want to become. It has been a dilemma since college. Ask my closest friends, they can call themselves as web designers, coders, motion graphics artists, animators, directors, just to name a few but when it came to me....oh Aya, she's the KPOP events girl. *sighs*.

I really wanted to change that and this is why I decided to take Korean music lightly and well, trying to lessen it (except posting Super Junior's Mr. Simple poster on my bedroom wall of course). It will always be a part of me but I think I can do better than being the "KPOP girl".

So...

Everyone doesn't have to reinvent himself all the time, they just need to....work on what you have and overcome whatever fears you have. I feel like with this new journey, I will overcome my fear of independence and well, just fear of doing things I know I'm good (ironic huh).

Whatever happens, you know I'll still be writing.

On the 6th of October, the awesome was born.

Chatime

Chatime recently opened in SM North Edsa, boyfriend and I went there after the trip to Bea's house during the long weekend. I actually like hanging out there than the one in Galleria but then again, the one in Galleria is too small. Of course, I need my milktea craving satisfied (I'll die of diabetes one day, I'm sure of it). We hung out a bit since this branch had comfy chairs and tables and all that sprawled out in the branch.

Everything's so pink and purple-ish. :) *likes*

How do I like my Chatime pearl milktea? A large one, 70% sugar, 100% ice. Chewy pearls - very important!

Last Saturday, I was able to claim my Super Junior Mr. Simple album, all thanks to Super Junior United Philippines who did a bulk order for Mr. Simple! Yes, I am a happy happy fangirl. Short post is short because there's so much to do right now but who's the happy girl with a Super Junior Mr. Simple album - me.

I swear the poster will fall on my face one morning. Anyway, I'm still planning to get the Donghae and Kyuhyun versions because god forbid, my mom was shocked when she saw Siwon in the poster. "It's like hanging Cosmopolitan hotties on your wall..." err..

081911 - Say hello to a rainy yet fresh start.

What my usual breakfast table would look like, an hour before I walk into the office. The usual Vitamin drink (I need so I wouldn't get so sick), coffee, a book I picked out of the shop's books on display, and my diary (well not really a diary).

Do you remember when your teachers used to ask you what you wanted to become in the future, I always answered that I wanted to be an "artist". As vague as it sounds, my parents always thought that meant I wanted to be a movie star or a singer (and gladly objected to that idea, by the way). After a few years of academic life and a few months into the 'corporate world', I know I've made a lot of wrong choices and decisions but I think I can answer confidently what I want to become.

To let go and be free to do whatever I felt like doing. Moments like those made me the happiest and now that I've seemed to simplify my dreams and aspirations, taking everything one step at a time (I have to admit I was very ambitious after I passed thesis, thinking I could take on anything already), I think I'm ready to go back to a more basic life...or a basic dream.

I was reading this book, well more like trying to read the Hangul but nevertheless allured by the beautiful interiors of coffee shops in Korea. I know my heart was somehow lost in Hongdae and I know my friends will laugh at me for saying that.

I always loved nude flats.

This was later on actually, Subspace now offers a range of pasta and andwiches. I tried the Spam Honey Mustard Sandwich - pretty yummy, something Dad would have made me at home when I was bored...and hungry and scavenging for food in the cupboards.

Honestly, I get tired of the stereotype that I'm a "KPOP Girl" and while it's flattering that people recognize that "special" skill of mine, it gets really dull and boring, and I get to be interviewed by a lot of students whose thesis are focusing on KPOP and it's the same questions every time. I really do appreciate the fact that people think of me as a credible source when it comes to KPOP but I really want to go beyond that. Believe or not, I really want to study and major in Korean studies, something close to what I really bound to take up if ever I didn't sleep during my DLSU entrance examinations . To be honest, I think I'm starting to appreciate Kimchiland beyond the whole Hallyu thing. Moreover, I think I've grown a love for Korean Indie music (thanks to hanging out at Subspace), a love for Korean culture and art (was reading on Hanbok and textile and patterns in Subspace the other day as well - wait, I spend of my breaks there nowadays, it's my new getaway.)

I've been really into Korean Indie and a little bit of of the Electro side and although I have an undying love for Clazziquai, there is so much more of the "overshadowed" genre. I mean, seriously, do you know anyone who listens to Yozoh, Hot Touch, Tensi Love and so much more of those talented. Okay okay, you might think I'm being a know it all but on a serious note, there is so much more to Korean Music than the whole bubble-gum sugar feel that mainstream KPOP has been feeding me for like....more than a couple years.

Yozoh has got to be my favorite indie act - although to some, she sounds very much indie pop which is true, she does have that "cookie sweet" type of music. Bea and I kind of laughed so much because one of her songs had this context of something really pervy or maybe it's just us who have really dirty minds that needs a lot of scrubbing!

I found out about her during one of my trips to Cafe Noriter during a stressful midterm week during my senior year in college (parang ang tanda ko na diba, kakagraduate ko lang) and the owner of Noriter showed me the CDs playing and well, that time - they were already playing KPOP since most of those who went to Noriter where if not students, KPOP fans. So I borrowed it and listened to her CD and loved it to bits.

Another favorite indie artist of mine would be Tensi Love which is an abbreviation of "Tenuto Switch in Love". Instantly fell in love with them with their song "Hey Now". Listen to it here.

It does still sound a lot like pop-rock but then again it's not like it's something you would hear or see on tvn or KBS everyday. I dreamt of having a band playing songs like this.

There are tons of indie that I listen to, especially on the electronica side - we would usually use the term "coffee shop" music to describe them. I grab and discover indie artists through this Youtube account and Indieful Rok which is a K-INDIE blog (think allkpop but on the indie side).

It took me 2-3 weeks to write up another article. There was another point of hesitation in me if I should continue blogging or not but I believe it's something in my system that you can't pull out. It's like pulling out my nose and telling me to breathe without it. And then there's the dilemma of finding something that I really want to do in life - long term - what job title I felt fit me the most.

Actually my recent trip to KCC (Korean Cultural Center), I think I did find where my calling would be sometime in the future, although it's still all blur as of now. On the good side of things, opening "Tea Shop" would be something to put my creative mind to rest. I needed an outlet to just paint or design or create something (again so much credit to Subspace for the nice thinking atmosphere - I found my little heaven in Ortigas). There are a lot of things I wanted to get back to - styling clothes, painting, sculpey, writing, photography, blabbing, more writing, and probably really a lot more.

Professors would always tell us the difference between "art" and "design" and somehow I realized how much I lean so much on the "art" side.

I miss it.

My Own Little Subspace

Ever since college, I have been really addicted - as in no joke - addicted to coffee. It was probably the only addiction my parents tolerated since they were coffee addicts themselves but the only difference, my parents like to brew their own coffee using the press thingamjiger and do their own blends. Meanwhile, I go for cafes and coffee shops and even McDonald's coffee. Since I also started working, I needed coffee even more to keep me up in the morning especially on hectic event weeks. So face it, coffee is part of my blood, my blood probably tastes like coffee now.

Back also in college, we also liked hanging out in these theme coffee shops, well particularly, Cafe Noriter which was just right infront of DLSU and it was very nice to just spend the long breaks there and now that I'm working, I sort of missed that feel of being able to be lazy inside coffee shops and mind you, I am not even talking about Starbucks or Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (though I am CBTL biased) - I'm talking about indie coffee shops, particularly - Korean Coffee Shops. They're quite popular in Kimchi land as well. Anything too mainstream for coffee for me is just a big no which is why you don't see me in Starbucks.

Luckily in Ortigas I found this place called SUBSPACE, right there in the Grand Emerald Tower which is across the street from where my office is. The first impression is really just one of those Korean places that most Korean in Ortigas hangs out at. I was in a real big surprise.

This was basically the BIG SURPRISE. Subspace gave me the feel of a designer cafe and all that. I was really in it because of the interior and trinkets inside. I was basically ordering my coffee when I look up and saw this from the counter. Super Junior. My life has KPOP written all over it.

Subspace offered a unique variety of never been heard of drink concoctions. Well probably here but Purple Potato Latte is what I think may be a Sweet Potato latte (kamote!). I'm curious with the peanut butter latte. Will try it when I get back...on Monday probably ^^

It really looks quite small from the outside but it's spacious and feels very cozy. Now you know where to find me during breaks. ^^

More of SUBSPACE

I've only tried their coffee so far it was good, worth the Php120.00. I have yet to try the food and the funny thing was that it's so Korean - they sold Chilsung Cider (think Sprite) in there. Oh and the staff = really friendly. I've been told that the furniture actually came from a design firm for furniture and that the owners, believe or not are Filipino. It seemed like the owners loved to travel and liked the concept of Korean coffee shops. Who wouldn't!

A Much Awaited Haul

Ever since my Milkberry days, I've been always wanting to write and try out Tony Moly but the only product I ever read up about the brand are their gel liners and I for one was against anything that was made out of liquid-ish eyeliners. I am not good a liquid eyeliners and the problem with my right eye is that my eyelids fold so much it. My boyfriend too had gotten so obsessed with the brand that he made me go shopping so that he can get the membership card. Aha~

So here goes my Tony Moly haul!

Tony Moly Luminance Face Perfume Loose Powder (Php748)

This is not really what I wanted as one, I can't really do with anything that has perfume (rhinitis) plus the fact it has glitters kind of scared me. I intended to buy their Baby Doll BB pact which is around 500 bucks, well settled for this one because the one I wanted was out of stock and well, I really tend to invest on make-up recently (recently? sure ka, Aya? XD) so I said hey, why not try a 500++ pact. Okay, mind you, I don't buy face pacts or powders. I usually buy the liquid types.

Product Information: Depending on different light angles, the satin pearls naturally give gleam to provide a brighter and more luminous face. Ultrafine soft satin pearls and jewerly powder provide a luxuriously luminous look. Aromas from the fresh and soft rose essential oil gives a refreshing, long-lasting scent during makeup so that this perfume face powder helps to make your makeup time enjoyable. 4. Packaging is simple and attractive, though it's hard to sometimes get the powder out of the little holes so when I try get them out, it gets a little messy.

5. Puff is nice, thick and soft, perfect for application.

CONS:

1. The fact that it's scented might be not too good for the skin

2. Wears off after 2 hours, have to re-apply again (but I guess that's normal)

3. Finish is too white or too thick, have to apply thinly.

Of course when you say Tony Moly, you really have to try their gel liners. I was supposed to get the set one but it was out of stock so I bought the brush and gel liner separately. This one is around 348Php.

How to use:
1. Apply the product lightly to both side of brush.
2. Make-up to eye area before product get dried.
*Make sure close the lid after use

It really doesn't smudge which is a good thing for someone like me who has a weird right eyelid and I tend to get the eyeliner smudge almost every time. It's also waterproof so I can cry all I want and still look pretty.
